Wizard Introduces New CMC with Twice the Speed
MUKILTEO, Washington -- Wizard International, Inc. recently introduced the Wizard™ CMC 8500, its third-generation computerized mat cutter geared for custom frame shops that require a faster and more powerful mat cutting system.

The Wizard CMC 8500 boasts a cutting speed of 15 linear inches per second, twice as fast as its predecessor the Wizard CMC 8000. The 8500 can cut an 8” by 10” opening in under six seconds. Add the time needed to cut the outside dimensions at 12” by 15” and the entire mat is completely cut in less than 13 seconds.

“The Wizard CMC 8500 is a more powerful and efficient machine. In addition to doubling the speed, the delay between cuts is far less. That means multiple openings and CutArt designs cut even faster. More power means that harder, thicker matboards cut effortlessly,” said Brian Wolf, Wizard’s Director of Standards and Training.

In addition to being faster the 8500 comes with two new accessories, a convertible CMC stand and new manual straight trimmer, the ST500. The convertible stand is a convenient mounting accessory allowing framers the flexibility of using the floor stand at a 45 or 15 degree angle, as well as mounting to a wall at a 75 degree angle.

The new ST500 manual straight trimmer is mounted on the right side of the board and offers the convenience of being able to manually trim matboard and foamboard, while the 8500 is busy cutting decorative mat designs. The 8500 also includes a new single rail air clamping system with a ruler reading right to left, providing precise measurement for trimming. The ST500 is included with the new 8500 and it can be purchased as an attachment for the previous model 8000.

The 8500 utilizes a direct drive cutting head and steel reinforced drive belts to ensure precise tracking. The gantry design provides convenient central housing for all electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical assemblies. A drop-in blade cartridge simplifies blade changes. Quick blade depth adjustments can be made by turning a large infinitely variable dial on top of the cutting head.

Framers expect CMC’s to be precise, reliable, affordable, and to keep up with their shop’s growing needs. What does this next generation CMC mean for framers?

“Wizard CMC’s have an 11 year track record of proven reliability, precision driven design, and feature rich software. Our success is due to the use of high-tech materials and engineering innovations aimed to deliver what framers want most: precision, reliability and ease of use. Wizard’s goal is to continue to build CMC’s and design software products that will be able to grow with the needs of framers, while maintaining a price point that is affordable for shops of all sizes,” says Rob Bridges, Wizard’s Product Development Manager.

Wizard will continue to offer true month-to-month rental programs starting at $245 per month. Additionally, both the 8500 and the 8000 are available for purchase for $17,950 and $12,950 respectively.

Wizard International continues to be an innovating force in the picture framing industry. With over 4,500 machines placed worldwide, there are more Wizard™ CMC’s in use than all other CMC manufacturers combined.
